Galaxy Z Fold 8（標準モデル）の予約がサムスンの想定を上回り、上位モデルのGalaxy Z Fold 8 Ultraを超える売れ行きになっていることが明らかになりました。
予約はUltra超え、40%増産でも在庫不足に
Galaxy Z Fold 8は、サムスンが7月下旬に発表した折りたたみスマートフォン3機種のうち標準にあたるモデルで、折り畳み時はパスポートサイズと称される小型設計によって上位のGalaxy Z Fold 8 Ultraと差別化されています。
そんなGalaxy Z Fold 8ですが、韓国のリーカーLanzuk氏（@yeux1122）によると、予約はサムスンの想定を上回っており、生産量を当初からUltra比で40%増やしていたにもかかわらず、在庫問題に直面しているとのことです。そのため、韓国内ではオフライン店頭の在庫確保は9月上旬から中旬まで、キャリア向けの供給は8月中旬まで滞る見込みを明らかにしています。
I have a hunch that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will become the best-selling folding item in Samsung's history. At present, according to feedback from South Korea and other places, its pre-order volume has far exceeded the Fold 8 Ultra.
Samsung India has revealed that the new Galaxy Z Fold8 series is seeing strong demand globally, with the Indian market achieving in just three days the same performance that took last year’s models 15 days to reach.
According to Samsung’s official data, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8 opened for pre-orders in India on July 22 and received more than 271,000 orders within 72 hours. By comparison, last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 took around 15 days to reach a similar level.
Samsung also revealed that 45% of pre-orders came from second-tier cities and smaller markets. The company expects total pre-orders for its new foldable smartphone lineup to match the performance of the Galaxy S26 series released earlier this year.
リーカーのIce Universe氏もZ Fold 8の予約が韓国に加え、インド含む複数の市場でUltraを大きく上回ったことを明らかにしており、今まで主流ではなかった折り畳みスマートフォンとしては異例の売り上げを記録している状況のようです。
米国ではWeb限定色が10月出荷に遅延
米国でも、米Samsung.com限定色「Pistachio」（ピスタチオ）の256GB・512GBモデルは、9to5Googleがカートで確認した時点で配送目安が10月9日まで後退しています。Fold 8／Fold 8 Ultraの大半のモデルは8月出荷予定で、同じPistachioでも1TBモデルは8月21日が目安のため、Galaxy Z Fold 8だけが約2か月遅れている状態で比較的人気が高いようです。
売れているのはUltraではなく標準モデル
Ultraではなく標準モデルに注文が集まる背景としては、4:3の折りたたみ画面と小型設計、そしてUltraより抑えた1,899ドルという価格の組み合わせが、望遠カメラの非搭載や防塵非対応を許容できる層に支持されているとみられます。チップセットはSnapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5で、50MPデュアルカメラと45W充電も備えるため、上位機との違いは実質的にカメラ構成と防塵、画面サイズに絞られています。
サムスンには来年（2027年）に折りたたみ4機種体制へ拡大する計画があると伝えられており、標準モデルの好調はこの増産路線を後押しする材料になると考えられます。
なお、日本での発売詳細や国内在庫の見通しは今回の情報に含まれていませんが、Galaxy Z Fold 8の発売日は8月7日ですが、公式サイトでは限定色のピスタチオは既に8月20日になっているほか、クリームも8月20日から配送開始と記載されるなど一部のカラーモデルの初回出荷分は完売になっています。
